So, SWIM was coming up on 6mg/kg of DXM, and had just smoked half a
bowl of cannabis. As a bit of an experiment, he took 25mg Diphenhydramine HCl to take care of the itch. It seems the combination put him to sleep. When SWIM woke up, he was just about to reach the second plateau. He found this experience extremely disorienting, but interesting once he realized it. The dissassociative qualities seemed to enhance this. Anyone else had experiences like this? |

yeah you can trip out on diphenhydramine alone. id imagine combined
with cannabis, dxm, and waking up suddenly while coming to the relaization that your are on all these drugs would be somewhat intense. |

I am aware of the effects of Diphenhydramine, which is why I mentioned
it. However, it was taken in a standard "medicinal" dose, so I don't think it would have too much of an effect. What is interesting, and somewhat worries SWIM, is that last night at work, SWIM had a pretty nasty cough, so SWIM took out his bottle of gelcaps and took a small, 30mg dose (0.3mg/kg). About an hour later, SWIM had to ask his coworker to cover for him a bit, as he was too confused and "out of it" to continue working. This lasted for a little bit, and while SWIM was capable of continuing, he felt shaky doing so on a cash register. It isn't to say that SWIM was tripping, but that he felt "tripped out", and didn't want to cause any problems. The 30mg dose was taken about forty hours after coming down from SWIM's DXM experience. SWIM thinks he may have to stop using DXM for a few months, although he had been using it no more than twice a month, and only ten times total. |

i can no longer take cough medicine, even when i actually need it, due to the "out of it" feel i get now. i think prior abuse of dxm hastricked my body into thinking it is meant to make me trip. so, now, if i take a regular 30mg dose, i feel like i used to at about 90mg. i've never gone any higher than 30mg since quitting recreational use, as i do not like dxm so much and am not in any hurry to see how higher doses would affect me now. i wonder if this sort of reverse tolerance is a common occurence. Hmm. I noticed this has been moved. I did intend to take this in a direction
more focused on the experience rather than the chemicals (especially to see if it happens with other substances) , but I would welcome a discussion on the chemical nature of this experience, if someone wishes to do so. |
