This product ( Alpha methyl diisopropyl tryptamine ) popped up some
years back, but never heard any reports on
it - anyone know if it was active ?

Just speaking from a chemical hunch, it looks like it would be
active. I can't think of any examples where methylating the alpha
position destroys the molecules activity. In the case of
tryptamine it takes it from something that doean't do anything to a
long lasting, powerful psychedelic, AMT.

Apparently, though, turning that into an N-CH3 (a-N-methyl) has the opposite effect and drops the potency by approx. a factor of 10. I'd be curious as well regards the nature of a-methyl-DiPT. Where is fastandbulbous? I bet he'd know!

SWIM mentioned that it was inactive - the source was a major one at the
time and had always had legitimate products in the past, though SWIM
never had a GC or NMR done to confirm chemical identity. Attempts with
100 + mg oral, 25 mg insufflated, and equivalent smoke yielded no
activity.
My suspicion is that the isopropyl groups could, along with the methyl
group adjacent to it, be too sterically hindered to bind, hence the loss of
activity. Also, the fact that it never showed up on anyone's list again
argued against potency. Who knows, though ? That's why I was hoping
someone around here might have some insight, since SWIM knows that
they were not the only one to sample this material....
