I assume you mean ethyl (drinking) not isopropyl (rubbing). And I have the same question. I've seen a person claim that they used 80 proof vodka to extract the goodies out of Kratom instead of the double boil and reduce (tea) method. So far only seen the 1 person talk about it, but I'm searching the forum asI type. If you've found a location that says what the good stuff is soluble in please share... [after reading on Erowid] at http://www.erowid.org/plants/kratom/kratom_info1.shtml "Mitragynine is the dominant alkaloid in the plant. ... It is soluble in alcohol, chloroform and acetic acid." So looks like vinegar or vodka could work, although I'd assume vodka would work better as vinegar is usually only 5% acetic acid.Edited by: OneOfMany |

I think he meant IPA like he said, the result of which would theoretically
be strained and then dried out to a resin. It's pretty commonly done with cannabis for simple home-made hash oil. I haven't got a clue as to the safety of such preparations.Edited by: radiometer |

P.S. if you're thinking of making an extract, I'd leave the kratom in the alcohol for at least several days (if you aren't going to heat it).Edited by: Nicaine |
