With only one of the two containing opium. One was "American" and the other was "Linnaeus" (the later being the opium containing version supposedly). Is this true? Or just a site trying to make you question other suppliers?

There are many Papaver somniforms. All contain the sought after alkaloids. Anything that starts with Papaver and doesn't end in somniform is a Poppy which is missing those alkaloids. They might be referring to the California Poppy - which isn't a somniform.Edited by: MrJim |

There seems to have been a bizarre misinformation effort to make people
think that only poppies grown in asia, or a special variety will produce the wanted alkaloids. This of course is not true, different varieties of papaver somniferum produce different levels of the alkaloids for sure but they all have them. Its like trying to convince people that only marijuana grown in exotic locales will produce THC and any grown here is just hemp. |

Yup, the site was definitely trying to get you to buy theirs. And I'd
wager their supplies are ghastly overpriced compared to others. SWIM is fortunate enough to be able to get pods at a local florist shop. They don't even have long stems on them, just little 1-2 inch vestiges of stems ![]() Edited by: BrugmansiaBrujo Last edited by MrJim; 19-04-2007 at 18:51. Reason: prices |
