This is a message from Ann Shulgin that a colleague of mine came across.

Sasha went into the hospital on Tuesday, the 26th, with bacterial pneumonia of the right lung. Today, Thursday, the pulmonary specialist said he's gradually improving, so we are reasonably certain he has turned the corner and is on his way to recovery. He has had no pain at all, thank heaven. He will be in the hospital for at least another week.

Please send healing thoughts to him.

Blessings,

Ann Shulgin

I've had pneumonia and it isn't fun. I can't imagine what it
would be like for an 80 year-old, even if he was in good shape like Dr.
Shulgin. May he continue to enlighten us for the rest of his days
and hopefully he has many more.

Oh, that would be so totally politically incorrect these days, I doubt any US film maker would do it.

But it IS a film that needs to be made, while he is still with us to be interviewed and appear in the film.

Dean Jeffreys, the Australian who made the film "Shamans of the
Amazon", did include on the DVD version of that film (it originally
came out on tape and video CD, without the McKenna segment) a 33 minute documentary interview with
Terrence McKenna. That interview was made in Terrence's home just
4 months before his death.

I think Dean Jeffreys did a fine job with both of the films on that
DVD, and he would be a fine candidate for the job of making a Shulgin
film.

Dr. Shulgin is such a remarkable man. Whenever I read his books,
the story parts in the front of them, his life plays out in my mind's
eye just like I was there watching it all.

Those parts of the books would make a fine movie. There is so
much content there, that it could not be completely covered in a 2-hour
film. Maybe a trilogy, like they did with Tolkein's Lord of the
Rings? If the good doctor himself could not or would not wish to
be in such a film, I think a great candidate for the actor to play him
would be Anthony Hopkins. Of course, permission to make such a
film would have to be granted.
