Hi there.. I'm new to this forum. I've mostly been reading poppies.org's forums but I can't register... .
Seems they're not taking on new members. At any rate, I've been
looking for a place to discuss the wonderful pod and using it for
beautiful floral.. arrangements</span>... ahem.

I wrote a story about growing my own poppies in my back yard. It
had a sad ending... the poppies grew but no pods bigger than a grape
and seemingly no POWER. This is no surprise to me, the author, as
the pods that the seeds came from were small and seemingly
powerless.

However, not to discourage a sequel to my story, I wrote an epilogue
about scattering two handfuls of seeds on july 4th in the same
area. These new seeds come from a larger and more effective pod,
so if they grow, perhaps the growth will be larger and effective.
I wonder if anyone knows about the viabilty of doing two growth cycles
in one season? The first one went from seed to pod in about 3
months (april, may and june). I live in the northeast. I
figure, July, August & September are relatively frost free months
here... I DO have sprouts, upon sprouts coming up. Any
thoughts? To increase story accuracy, of course...

Finally....

It seems to me that I had a dream that my cat ground up 3 of his poppy
pods really fine, mixed 3 tablespoons of the powder with grapefruit
juice into a metamucill-y gloppy mixture and glugged the whole glop
down. He said he was gellin like magellan and it beat T by a mile. Anyone else had this experience?

Looking forward to new ideas and reading all the posts in here.

Thanks..

C.

To your first question: I've grown quite a few tomato plants (no, seriously, tomatoes- but you'd be surprised the chemical conditions that tomatoes mimic with OTHER licit (and illicit) plants)

So no swimming here- feel free to taste my tomato paste (it's actually very refreshing to grow your own veggies, and then you can legally and happily share your fruits with others) - I guess it's about respecting ALL plants, not just the fun ones... but I digress- the point is, you should make yourself familiar with the NPK ratio (Nitrogen, Phos., Potass) and all the micro elements nesc. for your plants (legal) or SWIy's plants, (other). Not only to keep them alive, mind you, but to help them THRIVE!

Micros, btw, are like Zinc, etc, etc,

THEN make sure your plants have plenty of room to stretch their roots OR make sure your cat has the ability to see through to the problems before they BECOME problems, (pest control, etc,) - it/'s actually not that hard- you just have to have a little time for it. Remember, you get what you put in.

The second thingy that you wrote, well, yeah I've actually read about someone doing that, (See my other post on this book I've been reading by Jack Straw) ...

he's very good at eating poppies, I think. I wouldn't dare, the legal and health risks of course. But it's interesting to read the thoughts and experiences of others. According to HIM, he just grinds up a couple bulbs, (he's a bad and lazy one- he doesn't grind them all up because he's all about the speed of the preparation, but then again he has little chance of health risks because of his opiate tollerence, or so this book says,...)

BUt he writes that basically 2 or 3 good pods, ground up, and downed with some grape juice seems to do the trick nicely.

Peace

and

hope that helped (a little!) :P
