Re: World Psychedelic Forum (Basel, Switzerland - March 21-24, 2008)
The reason I would love to go to the forum is the frustration I get in the work I do.
I work with homeless people in the Netherlands with the goal to resocialise them back into society. Of course this is difficult and I encounter a lot of psychiatric problems and substance dependence but I got frustrated about the way the regular treatments and recovery programs that are forced upon one when you ask for help. They are only fixated on temporary treatment of the problems.
I found that the help that is given only works on the short term(a.e. antidepressants or methadone) and the bigger, fundamental psychological problems are neglected or not even treated.
In the 6 years I have been doing this work I have seen a lot of sad story's actually only getting sadder because of the treatments and medicines they get stuffed with.
Like a year ago I stumbled upon the Iboga treatment on the net and I was stunned about the way it seemed to work and how it actually works on the most difficult problems to treat at the same time.
When you saw a lot of people that are close to you try to kick their opiate dependence its surreal to hear that one substance not only kicks your habit without any withdrawal symptoms but it also works on your psychological problems that are the actual basis of your dependence.
I interested some of my clients in the iboga therapy so I'm very keen to learn as much as possible about it to see what the possibilities are and on how it actually works.
After this I also started to become interested in other psychological work with psychedelic substances and how they could be integrated in or replace the regular treatments that are given now. For example studies of LSD and MDMA therapy for psychiatric problems or ayahuasca healing rituals for overcoming personal burdens and traumatic experiences found my interest.
When I could go to the forum I hope to learn a lot of all the new insights and the possibilities with psychedelic substances.
I hope to be able to work them out and find some ways to, at least, support the groundbreaking experiments and study's and follow the outcomes and hopefully give my patients and with them of course all psychiatric patients and recovering addicts a treatment that finally works on the long term without any government or medicine industrie forced farce treatment that only makes them worse or at least doesn’t work on the long term.
I will make as much pictures as possible to post on the forum and will of course post my new found knowledge and insights to share it with all of you.
I haven't been posting a lot but until now I have been learning an incredible amount of valuable information through this site so I cant wait to finally give something back to it.
If I win the tickets I'm willing to share it with another person of course.
