SWIM agrees entirely: She recently met a (very!) young woman at a club who had done 2C-I on the premise that it was "tripstacy" and was having difficulties as a result.
There seems to be a lot of 2C-I (and pills purporting to be) around where SWIM is at the moment, and in combination with MDMA pills being increasingly unreliable and MDMA powder being viewed as too expensive thinks that 2C-I is becoming seen as a "club-drug" (which it isn't: For SWIM anyway!)
SWIM has only done 2C-I in a club environment once: Trip Report Follows
She took 15mg 2C-I and had had 2 pints of beer.
At 1-2 hours lasers looked amazing and prompted some very intense and elaborate OEV's. She was very interested in the people around her and felt very warm towards them (although fortunately not warm enough to want to enagage them in conversation!), the sense of child-like wonder which she usually gets with 2C-I was very prominent at this point. She felt very giggly and silly, as if she was in possession of a delicious secret that noone else was aware of.
At 2 and a half hours she started to become more aware of the hectic environment, which led onto her quickly becoming aware of body load (which is not usually a problem for her). She felt very nauseous and achy and tense, over the next half an hour this increased, and her hearing and sense of smell became hyperacute. Somehow she got into a negative feedback loop where the music was distorting and triggering some very negative OEV's re body image. Fortunately her partner "rescued" her at this point (approx 3 hours) and they left the club.
Once outside in the quiet/darkness/stillness some sort of equilibrium was restored. The negative feelings slowly faded and she began to have some very positive and serene feelings re being outdoors/close to nature. She bagan to have some far more calming OEVs which ameliorated the negative hallucinations of earlier. Although happy with this turn of events she was aware that she was having to work quite hard to direct her trip in a positive direction (which she never normally has to do). She found this a little irritating, but fortunately not so irritating as to induce another loop.
At approx 4 hours things were very positive emotions wise, but the hallucinations seemed strangely attenuated. The stream of thoughts/ideas and concepts which usually accompanies a 2C-I trip for her was very muted, although she was much better able to articulate the ideas she was having. SWIM was very aware of her partner at this point and how things were for him, and started to become vaguely anxious again (normally she is very engrossed in her own experience and is not really aware of what is happening with others). However he quickly reassured her, and the next hour was very soothing, with many positive insights into their relationship, although OEV's not really a feature.
There was a very abrupt transition at 6 hours. Suddenly she was straight (she usually has a gradual tapering off). This was very disorienting and left her feeling unsettled.
Overall SWIM does not regret the experience, because positive insights far outweighed the negative. However when SWIM thinks of this experience the overall feeling is of being vaguely dissatisfied. SWIM will not do 2C-I in a club environment again.
