Crank

Crank
is a story written by the mother of a 16 year old girl who became addicted to methamphetamine. She wrote it based on her daughters experience and those of others she met in the recovery program, so it is loosely based on real events. It is a big book but it's like a journal that is written entirely in the form of poetry from the perspective of the daughter.

Things pretty much just go downhill from the first time she gets high. It was heartbreaking to read. Don't know how true any of the events were but it seemed tragically believable. I had to take a break from the book at one point because it was so upsetting. I wasn't sure if I'd finish it, but I wanted to know how it ends. Overall it was good, however sad.
