Bout to taper off Xanax with 13mgs to do it with

SWIM have been using Xanax moderately to heavily for about a month. SWIM have been through a big Xanax withdrawal before and it was terrible. SWIM have 13mgs left and SWIMS dealer is now moving town. SWIM now has to stop and he has 13mg left.

What should be swims daily dosage so swim can come off it easily (IF POSSIBLE)?

How many mg was SWIY taking a day before? And how many mg at a time?

With only 13mg left, it would seem that the only option would be to wait it out untill you got sick and take like 1mg or 2 and then just deal with it. Otherwise 1mg at a time, all benzos work with the same tolerance. So if swiy was taking alprozam he could take diazepam to deal with withdrawl if need be. Just a tip!

Edit: Don't wait intill you get sick, take a 1mg at a time when you get the feeling you are going to get sick. Usually you will start to feel funny before anything bad happens. But be careful.

go see a dr some one who is not you could easily die from this withdrawl.. the thing is that swim might taper all the way down to 1mg a day and then get off and 2 days later bam seizure...

benzos stay in your blood for a very long time. Even though you are not taking them they are still in your blood..

if someone can explain why this happens please do.

you must see a dr or go to a medical detox facility.. if you just explain the situation they will be more than happy to help and will not bring in law enforcement.

Phazes mother said that the last time she got off from benzos supposedly for good btw, that she used a quarter tablet of suboxone from phazes step father, she said it made her real sick but it did deal with the withdrawal. According to her she is benzo free now, not sure on the validity of this story though.

SWIM Not looking forward to this.As mentioned already by other members, please be very careful with stopping benzo's cold turkey after having been taking them for extended periods. If SWIY has been taking high doses, daily, for the last (few months), then it's dangerous too suddenly stop. In such case, one should go to the doctor who will guide SWIY through the tapering process.

Anyone even thinking of withdrawing from an addictive substance should always go to a licensed practitioner, but if one must insist on doing it on their own:
Alprazolam does not stay in the system long at all, and since it is also absorbed quickly, the withdrawal is less than other Benzodiazapines. Decrease the dose by 0.5mg every 3 days. A few other things to consider, Smoking can reduce the amount of Alprazolam in the blood up to 50%, and antacids should be taken at least an hour before Alprazolam to prevent them from interfering with it's absorption.

Benzodiazapine metabolites can be detected for longer periods of time, but that is not the drug itself. Depending on body mass and use. Chronic use of a benzo (a year or more) at even a theraputic dose can be detected in urine for 4-6 weeks. Urine can not detect current drug use. It takes approximately 6–8 hours or more post-consumption for drug to be metabolized and excreted in urine. Peak plasma concentration of Alprazolam occur 1-2 hours after administration, and the mean plasma elimination half-life has been found to be 11.2 hours in healthy adults. The Alprazolam metabolite is Alpha-Hydroxy-Alprazolam and the biological activity is about half that of Alprazolam and the Benzophenone metabolite is essentially inactive.

SWIM has roughly 5 Xanax left but can obtain more. Thinks benzo addiction without a prescription is incredibly stupid. Wants to quit badly. So far SWIM hasn't tapered, just used about 2mg at a time to satisfy his desires. SWIM is getting sick of Xanax, though, and really hates the drug deep down.

SWIM can't remember how much he was taking. He's still off his head on the shit really. I mean fuck. I will hopefully post a success story of SWIM's withdrawal.

If someone were using 2mg daily of Xanax, 12mg of Xanax and 10 days would be the minimum needed to safely discontinue use. However, not everyone tolerates withdrawal the same way, and it may need to be adjusted. An example of a withdrawal schedule would be:
Day 1 - 2mg
Day 2 - 1.5mg
Day 3 - 1.5mg
Day4 - 1.5mg
Day5 - 1.0mg
Day6 - 1.0mg
Day7 - 1.0mg
Day8 - 0.5mg
Day9 - 0.5mg
