What to do? STOLEN medications!!!

Well swim has recently been prescribed 2mg Klonazepam and .5mg alprazolam. Two Fridays ago swim went and filled 90 of his .5mg alprazolam before being put on the klonopin. Swim took 1.5 mgs as soon as he got them as he was in opiate w/d because he was going to get on suboxone that evening. He also gave 2 to a buddy and 2 to his brother. His little brother (5 years younger; 15) is following the same path swim went down with drug addiction, his bro is hooked on oxy but takes any drugs he can get his hands on. Well swim went on suboxone and woke up the next day and decided to recount the xanax script seeing as there were 83 the night before when he went to bed. Ther were only 70 pills left and swims litlle vrother was TRASHED the night before and wouldn't tell swim what he was on and that he wasn't messed up (he was!)!!! So swim asked him and his bro said no he didn't steal them. Well swim went on taking them as prescribed and they weren't working well enough so his sub dr. called in 30 2mg Klonazepam. Swim has been taking those as prescribed also but decided to count both scripts last night. Swim had FIFTEEN xanax and same amount of klonopin. He told his bro about this and asked him to just be honest and tell him he stole the so swim could be rest assured that he can make through next month and be sure he's not taking them in his sleep. Well bro said he didn't take any so swim took a 10mg diazepam he had because of the long half-life so he can TRY to make it till the refill on the 6th. Swim hid his scripts in his shoes so his brother wouldn't be able to grab them as fast as off swims night stand. He woke up today very mad at his bro cause he kept coming in his room while swim was sleeping and his bro was digging all through swims shit needing lighters, cards , etc. Swim was sleeping nicely so he didn't think anything of it. Well he woke up and his brother, father, and his dads buddy were gonna BBQ. Swim took his suboxone and heard his dad asking his bro "what's wrong with you? what are you on???". Swims little bro came to swim while browsing Drugs-forum and said "Do you remember taking a klonopin last night while you were in here?" Swim wasn't in the computer room for more than 5 minutes and didn't have his klonopin bottle anyway. His bro then said "you need to be on a lower dose because you you're forgetting about taking your meds". Swim is POSITIVE he did not take a klonopin last night!!! No doubt!!! Swim then got suspicious and went and counted his klonopin and there were only 12 left!!! Swim doesn't know what to do? He knows to make up for the stolen meds and get refilled he must file a police report and have his bro arrested which is NOT something he wants to do! Swim can't live life with anxiety like this and not have any medicine!!! What should swim do????

for starters try hiding swiys meds ALOT better so swiys brother cant steal them!!!
Also STOP taking your medication recreationally as obviously this is not why they are prescribed and it seems to be causing you memory problems etc.
Then confront your brother and tell him if he doesnt stop stealing your medication your gunna A. Bash him and/or B. Report him to your parents and Police.
Hes only 15 and shouldnt be stealing from his family or taking drugs...this is only gunna cause him and your family more problems in the future...!!
then contact swiys doctor and tell swiys doctor what has been happening,but only if swiy is going to find a better hiding place and start taking them as they are meant to be taken according to the prescription!!

You need to take control of the situation. The more someone does something the easier it can become to do. If hes stealing his own brothers drugs after being confronted hes heading a bad way. Also your responsible for how you store your medication. As has been stated keep it in a safer place or leave the bottle in a better spot. (Check one of the threads on hiding your stash for some good ideas.)

I'd put "little brother" in a nice rehab. Give myself a vacation from additional stress - for which these drugs were prescribed to help in the first place. Until "little brother" was carted away to Happy Valley for Children - I'd keep the bottles in my pocket. And sleep with a baseball-bat.

SwiS had a college roomate pulling very similar shit on SwiS....He did two things

1. put a little cam in the room (very low res, can't see much but get the idea).
2. He put crappy pills in the bottle instead (i think used generic advil or something), so what was stolen wasn't his good stuff.

Bottomline, besides any catching/get even thinking, at early teen years pulling this crap will def. lead to much much worse. Also, heavy abuse can damage the developing brain. Need to "nip it in the bud" as difficult as it may be, let the parents know in a way that they may understand, and want to help rather than punish.

Yes swim does need to find a better spot to hide the bottles to prevent this from happening in the future. He really just didn't think his flesh and blood would steal from him.

As far as the parents knowing swim told them about the situation as they know he steals. He tears through swims mothers house to find the tramadol that swims dog is on for pain and rummages through his fathers house looking for his oxycodones and methadones. Swims parents had a LONG talk with his little bro yesterday and said "stop this behaviour and quit using drugs or we're putting you in rehab!!!". His brother is further into his addiction at 15 years old than swim is at 20!

Swim has the bottles put in a GOOD spot now but swim'll see how that goes! From now on when he leaves the house he'll take the bottles with him!

Swijatelka swim was in a mad rage and the LAST thing on his mind was paragraphs. He will try to use paragraphs in the future to make for easier reading!

That's actually a perfect combination for someone to die of an accidental overdose and all the more reason to prevent this sort of thing from continuing to happen. At that age, kids tend to think that they are invincible... and don't always make the best decisions.

If SWIM's marmoset was in SWIY position, worrying about little brother marmoset gobbling down methadones and clonazepams/alprazolams and drowning in his bowl of breakfast cereal would be the marmoset's primary concern. Otherwise, I'd go with the baseball bat suggestion.

I would be inclined to think that either he is a kleptomaniac or has a nasty addiction. When honest people begin to steal (assuming they were an honest person to begin with), it is a likely sign that addiction has already established a firm grip. Sorry, not to cause you anymore anxiety than you already have... but this is obviously something that is bothering you or we wouldn't be talking about it. SWIM will have to admit though... at one point in time, her marmoset was the 15-year old causing stress for the rest of the family (or so they claim.)

SwiCosmicruler NOOO the meds are NOT "laying" around the house they are all stashed away. Mom and DA are divorced for starters. Mom rescues pitbulls and other dogs and gets major financial support from A very famous singers widow and has many vets that pitch in to help her rescue these animals. Her own dog has leg problems and the vet RX'ed the dog tramadol. Once swims mother started relising they were missing from time to time she locked them away but swims little bro' is a master mind damned near so always finds a way to them! Sad but true

Swims father whom he and his bro live with has interstytial cystitis which is a debilitating pain condition so is rx'ed methadone 10mg 120 a month and oxycodone 5mg 200 a month. Swims father has been on this medicine LONG before swims bro started stealing them. Swim was in fact the first to steal them while at a cousins funeral (she OD'ed off oxycontin) ironic huh? He started using recreationally as he'd done all sorts of drugs at this point but oxys became his DOC. So swim kept battling with addiction and one time really thought he had it under control. That is until swims mother came to a buddy of swims house where they were drinking some beers celebrating 2 weeks clean off opiates and she said "your little brother got in a HORRIBLE accident on his 4-wheeler , his arm, jaw, nose, and many other bones in his face are broken we don't know if he is gonna make it"!!! Swim went to the hospital smoking a blunt as hard as he could pull them hits and when he arrived to the ER room reality came crashing in!!! swim broke down crying and just wanted to get some opiates in his blood or he was afraid he'd get in trouble with something else. He had told his father of his addiction and told him to hide the meds from him, well this night swim said tell me where they are or I'm gonna end up[ getting in some deep sh#t! That restarted his addiction and his brother was put on IV hydromorphone and underwent many facial reconstruction surgeries over the next month.

Well when swims lil' bro got home from the hospital he was on 5mg percocet (oxy/apap) and swimwas taking his 'fix' as usual to. This period of time swim and his lil bro got closer than ever knowing that one day we might not ever get to see the other! Well swim kept stealing from whoever however (except from his bro) to get his fix. One day swim was on youtube listening to a favorite song of his and bro came in and said he just snorted a oxy that swims father gave him cause he was out of pain meds. Thus starting a second addiction in the family.

Swim moved to Wisconsin for a while to get clean and his little brother was to do the same while he was gone. Well upon return he found that his bro had went from 10-15mgs of oxy a day to 60-70mgs of oc a day. He was stealing them from his pops. Swim started back up again and kept trying to get his lil bro to get clean with him. He would agree but while he was not on oxy bro was stealing tramadols from moms house.

Now swims on suboxone and lil bro is supposed to be clean but somehow keeps scoring enough to support his habit and he steals whatever he can get his hands on. Swim is DONE with the junkie lifestyle and sooo badly wants his bro to give it up to but he just cannot stay clean!!! This saddens swim sooooo much and now sees firsthand what swims parents felt before swim got his sh*t together!!!

Swim really wants to put lil bro in rehab but just doesn't want to be an ass! He knows thats what it is gonna take to get him clean however. Swim, his dad, and his mom all lock away their meds but swims little brother always finds a way!!!

Sorry for the super long post but swim feels relief from just telling the story, like a LOAD off his shoulders!!! What do swiyou people think swim and his parents should do? Swim wants his bro to be back to his old self a loving fun kid!!! It brings tears to swims eyes talking about it.

SWIY needs to talk to swiys brother and explain the situation and seriousness of it!SWIYs brother is only gunna end up in 1 of 3 places if swiys bro continues on this path...DEAD,JAIL or REHAB....seriously this needs to be stopped NOW before swiy 15 year old brother becomes a full blown junkie beyond all reason and help!He is only 15 and sounds like if helped now swiys brother could cahnge swiys brothers life and turn it around as swiy has/trying to do...
SWIY needs to seriously consider which is the best option of those 3 and talk to swiys parents and all 3 need to offer support and love to swiys younger bro,it aint easy but it must be done!!!

Swim really appreciates the advice and support swicosmicruler!!! Swim just sat down with both parents and they have come to the conclusion that little bro is going to rehab! Swim knows the struggle of addiction and knows it can be a very dark point in your life!!! Especially at age 15!!! Swim is getting ready to go report the stolen meds now to obtain a police report so that he can get refilled enough to make through the month. Hopefully all goes well!!! All swimmers have a great and wonderful day!

Well swim went and got a police report to get a refill. He didn't say he thought it was his little brother to keep him clear of trouble as he said he is willing to go clean and has been off the opiates for 2 days; not much but he is making an effort!

He went to the doc and told him he had a report and the dr. checked it out and said he could give swim more. He asked how thw suboxone was going and swim told him he got his dose down to 8mgs a day. Then he asked about his SAD, GAD, and panic disorder so swim told him it's gotten better since being on suboxone but he still has at LEAST 1 panic attack a day. His dr. wrote him 60 2mg Klonazepams and 15 .5mg alprazolam in case of a serious panic attack that needs instant relief.

Swim is very relieved he was able to get refills or he would have been a serious mess the rest of the month!!! Anyways just wanted to keep all updated and that all is going welll!!!
