Lately I've been withdrawing near the end of the afternoon usually at around 3PM after waking up @ 8AM. It's gotten bad, if I dont get my beer before 6PM I start to hallucinate, like, snakes going through the grass & trees eyeballing me, anyone else have this?

I feel for you man i was the same way from age 16 to 20 i had horrible withdrawls shaking, throwing up,everything up to heart palps i would suggest you either go to the Emergency room and explain the situation only if you really want to stop tho they will give you some ivs and most likely send you home with ativan or valium to help ease the withdrawls thats what i did and the docs were really helpfull i was to the point of not being able to walk or stand but yeah go to the emergency room man alcohol wd is no joke you can die i hope you get well :)

swim must second that. alcohol withdrawal is deadly and should be taken care of medically.

Thirded.

Up to 15% of alcohol dependent people have severe withdrawal symptoms on cessation of alcohol, and up to a third of those who have severe withdrawal have seizures. Of those who do have fits, two thirds will have multiple seizures.

5% of people will develop full blown DT's. DT's are more common in those that have a long history of alcohol use and previous serious withdrawal. Given that the mortality associated with untreated DT's is high then your monkey MUST seek medical advice before they get to this stage

Swim once had a problem with drinking way too much. Swim also experianced withdrawls, in the begining he was very stupid and just rode them out. It was a terrible experiance and swim wouldn't do it again. Swim was stubborn and wouldnt see a doctor. But one day decided to go to the ER, the doctor was very friendly and helpful. He put swim on a ringers drip with some valium, swim had a pleasant afternoon and was sent home with some valium.

Benzo's or GBH would also work for alchohol withdawl although it should be done under medical supervision. Swim suggests that once the dependency has been broken that the problem be addressed. There are many reasons for heavy drinking and understanding what is going on can be very helpful.

Swim has had a long history of self medication with alchohol and is happy to say he only drinks in moderation now.

Hi There,

In the U.K, Librium has been used as an effective treatment for Alcohol withdrawal and for the management of DT's.

Good Luck.:)

go to a detox or a hospital (keep drinking till then to avoid withdrawls), dont try to detox yourself. alcohol withdrawl can be deadly.

well if you are going to try to detox id recomend only drinking beer and staying away from any liquer, and a benzos will help

swim used to drink a 5th a whiskey everyday or about 12 beers a day. swim promised someone who got him out of jail the he would never drink again, and swim has only drank 10 times in about 4 years. swim also quit drugs at the same time, about a gram of coke a day with e every week and meth here and there. the most amazing thing was swim had no withdraws. This friend of mine swears up and down the the holy spirit made this so cause his doctor stressed the point of tappering of cause of dts. swim said he was so happy for his little miricale and is now lives his life for god and trys his hardest to reach out to those who are in the pain of addiction

SWIM is worried to hear about this. SWIM was told that when alcohol is causing hallucinations like these there is some damage being caused to the brain. (SWIM worked some time at an alcohol counselling service). SWIM thinks SWIY needs to seek medical treatment asap so this damage is not permenent. Good luck

Just wanted to say, you're not alone. Tried to detox myself today but, ended up giving in. The hallucinations were to much. Be safe and I wish you the best of luck :)

Wow! Spongebob didn't really know the terrible effects of alcohol withdrawal until now. Getting to the stage of hallucinating is really dangerous. In fact, alcohol IS dangerous!!! And people think alcohol's better than other drugs because the government legalizes it... Good luck all of you in getting rid of this withdrawal

Jason,

If you are hallucinating from your drinking, you should speak to your doctor about it. I would suggest you make an early morning appointment so you are reasonably sober before seeing him. Your post says your in Canada I am a Canadian as well although I live in Thailand now, feel free to contact me I might be able to give you a few other suggestions depending on your situation and where you are at. I don’t believe I am allowed to post links on here but if you search “Channah Thailand” you will find a 1-808 number on the site that will connect you directly to me if you would like further advice.

Ant456,

I'll second that at the rehab I work for in Thailand Librium is our primary detox drug, it is a benzo by the way.
