SWIM was checking out different sights for hppd and trying to gether info on it. he came across a few support sight for people with HPPD. the main drugs that caused it were of course psychedelics and some users reported that they have gotten hppd from marijuana alone.
the users on that site have HPPD for life it seems as they have had it for up to 15 years some of them.
but swim doesnt know if the users are biased or not just because they have it. for example one user asked what drugs would be safe to do in a sense that its "Safe" that he wont get hppd. the users replied that "no drug iis safe" or "i wouldnt be suprised if any drug could cause it"
whish is confusing to swim. i mean he thought it was hallucinogens and psychedelics that caused it. i mean its in the name!!! so what does swim beleive? do just psychedelics cause it as the name sggests? or can all drugs carry a risk of developing hppd?
Actually true HPPD can only be causes by psychedelics. To understand the disorder one has to really have had it. It is misnamed as a flashback. In true HPPD you get afterimages from looking at lights. You see trails after objects. You may get macro and micro scopia amoung other viisual disturbances. Now certain drugs may aggravate but not cause HPPD. Pot may aggravate it as may alcohol. Also some drugs may help control it. Like I say I have heard people say that they think other drugs can cause it but they cannot. It is mostly caused by LSD and may be caused by psilosibin and mescaline and theoretically by other obscure chemicals in the psychedelic family. It can last for weeks or years. It can just stop. You do not see things that are not there with HPPD but suffer from afterimages and similar distortions. It is really not a "mental disorder" but a sensory problem. Perhaps some other unknown drugs not used as psychedelics that alter brain chemistry may cause a similar manifestation but this is speculative. So no other drugs with 99% assurity do not cause HPPD.

Swim got a quite intense flashback the other day.. there were silver threads moving all over the sky. He was surprised as hell but it was still beautiful. Flashbacks, as long as they don't happen at times when you need full concentration, are never an issue for swim, he just enjoys them.

swim believes HPPD could be caused by psychological manipulation without the aid of psychedelics.
swim tells people they can here realities response just by listening out fors something like rudimentary morse code
1 tap/click/syllable of sound = a positive response
2 = a negative response
3 = an undecided...confused? response
they start hearing it...and it works for the most part.
swim can't use it anymore...gets responses that generally support swims beliefs, whats that saying about mental illness?
the foundation of all mental illness is the unwillingness to experience legitimate suffering.

SWIy clearly does not understand HPPD. One relly nned to deeply understand it or have had it to understand.

keep in mind that there is WAY more to psychological illness than it being "all in your head". for example take schizophrenia, its not just a matter of getting therapy. they is a dopamine imbalance in the brain that is beyond anyones control without some type of medication. HPPD stems from some type of neurological damage. mindset has very little if any effect on chemical imbalances or neurological damage.
the foundation of all mental illness is the unwillingness to experience legitimate suffering.
That is amazing. =|
