Hi all.
Swim got to thinking, He spent some time in psyciatric care andwas perscribed Mellaril to counter the affects of ... you guesed it a drug induced psycosis. One of the side affects of this drug was the prohabition of ejackulation !
The question is this, is there likly to be any decrease in fertility due to this?
Regards,
ME.

Thank you
Mellaril is Thioridazine, an antipsychotic. It is only licensed for the treatment of schizophrenia (and has not been evaluated in randomised trials, even for this)
In addition to it's effects on ejaculation (which should resolve with discontinuation of the drug, and which should have no long term effects on fertility) it interferes with the conduction of electricity in the heart, causing prolongation of the QT interval and can, as a result, cause fatal cardiac arrhythmias.
As I recall, Thioridazine is only recommended when trials of two other antipsychotics (at adequate doses and for an adequate length of time) have failed

OMFG so SWIM was basically used as a lab rat !!! This makes Swim more than unhappy ! Good to hear that there is not lasting damage though.
Thanks for your help on this matter.
