View Full Version : Opinions - Benzodiazepines anything like opiate euphoria?
swim would like to know what dosage would create a euphoric feeling like the effects of opiates.. Is this even possible?...What High should swim be feeling once the appropriate dosage is taken. The most swim has taken at one time is 2.0 mg of Lorazepam and felt not much at all:mad:

SWIM has only abused heroin in the opiate class but has played with numerous benzos. SWIM would say that the euphoric feeling given by benzos is both different to and nowhere near as strong as the euphoria from heroin. Obviously benzos have other effects that opiates don't. Plus, it's possible SWIY is quite tolerant of benzos. SWIM wouldn't feel anything from 2mg of Lorazepam either. SWIM cannot recommend a dosage as it varies from person to person.
well people take benzo's for what kind of feeling is what swim is trying to figure out. Swim takes vicodin for the euphoric feeling. what about benzos , what kind of high is produced....Is id anything like Opiates
Having never taken opiates, the flamingo cannot really comment on comparisons between the two
People tend to "get" the benzo feeling or not.
In her experience, those that do are those who feel anxious (possibly without really knowing it, or identifying it as such).
When you exist in that state, then being completely free of anxiety for the first time is a blissful, blessed relief. You feel as if nothing can touch you, insulated, isolated, almost cocooned. Predominantly safe and serene. That is a very seductive and compelling way to feel, and can easily lead to problems with escalting dose and dependence
Benzos can cause euphoria (for some), but it is less obvious than the euphoria generated by (say) MDMA.
The flamingo only ever felt euphoric with iv midazolam, or when combining benzos with alcohol: Obviously a dangerous practice, that should be strongly discouraged, because the risks of additive sedation, amnesia and blackouts.
She thinks it is easy to confuse the disinhibition produced by benzos with euphoria (especially if one is socially phobic/anxious or has other anxiety disorders)
For her, Lorazepam was always a fairly worthless benzo: Too much hangover effect, fuzzy/thickheaded etc

SWIM has anxiety issues which they have never sought treatment for. Now SWIM thinks about it, all of the people SWIM knows who have abused benzo's have had violent lives by western standards so the anxiety theme is plausible here too. SWIM feels enlightened...

Oh, further on the Lorazepam sucks theme.... SWIM always favoured diazepam, but most people SWIM knows and those SWIM has read about too have found temezepam to be the most "euphoric" of the benzos they've tried. This is the common opinion even though SWIM doesn't agree. It's a bit like different strains of weed. "Personal taste" is the theme of the day. It's subjective. Hope this info is helpful bear300.

Swim used to get euphoria from benzos when he started with them. Not like opiate euphoria, but still nice.
Today, nothing but mental tolerance, and the euphoria is gone.
1mg Alprazolam used to be like a clean, euphoric drunk. Now 2mg does not even provide anything but confusion, amnesia, drunkenness, and bad decision making. Chasing the euphoria dragon :p

SWIM strongly agrees with Jatelka about the fact that most often, the anti-anxiety effects of benzodiazepines cause the experienced euphoria in many people, because of underlying anxiety they didn't know about. The effect of benzo's taking away the anxiety can be such a big relief, that people experience it as euphoria, finally feeling normal and anxiety free. For most other people, who don't suffer any form of anxiety, benzo's merely cause relaxation, something which should not be confused with euphoria, even though they sometimes can be very closely related in their effect. Not even IV Dormicum(midazolam) and Rivotril(clonazepam), or oral Rohypnol(flunitrazepam) and Halcion(triazolam) caused any euphoria for SWIM, and they are the most potent benzo's existing, dose and effect wise.

swim found 6mg of clonazepam plus 18mg of bromazepam very nice, but swim soon built a high tolerance for them. to some one who has no tolerance this could be very dangers as jatelka says you could black out and do some thing stupid like getting in your car and and wipe a whole family out or eat the rest of your benzos and wipe your self out.
swim found triazolam the most euphoric of all benzos he tried.
6mg of clonazepam? And THEN you got a tolerance?
6mg of Clonazepam is roughly equivalent to 120mg diazepam, which, quite frankly would drop many of the users here flat on their arse.
Throwing around numbers like this is dangerous and irresponsible, and runs the risk of benzo-naive users taking inappropriately large doses and running into trouble as a result. Please be extremely careful with your posting
