Which has more adverse health effects: MDMA or LSD?
It's rather ironic, at least for SWIM, as SWIM will dose Acid any day (well, not everyday), but is sketched as fuck about MDMA/ecstasy. Acid has the Urban myths, which pretty much all are bullshit: strychnine used to get it to stick--the blotter paper is actually a form of absorbant water color paper, it stays in your spine--LSD is fully metabolized within 24 hours, etc. From what SWIM knows about MDMA/ecstasy (even pure MDMA) is that it can fuck with one's serotonin transporter.
SWIM went to his second rave, first SWIM was sober for most then stoned for the last hour, the second one SWIM was drunk. SWIM really wanted to dose, but no one had any, hell, SWIM asked some people in the bathroom for doses and they didn't even know what a dose was! If SWIM is worried, is SWIM better off doing molly, or does cut ecstasy be it with heroin or meth make it better? |

Re: Which has more adverse health effects: MDMA or LSD?
A big risk with E is adulterants, of course, and keeping properly hydrated if out dancing. Pure MDMA is getting really popular in SWIM's hometown because of adulterants.
Yeah, MDMA can screw with your serotonin. A good chunk of people crash after MDMA- like SWIM, which is why he doesn't take it anymore. It isn't worth being depressed for 1-3 days afterwards :P (not everyone experiences that, though). MDMA is possibly mildly neurotoxic, and heavy long-term users can experience some damage. SWIM has friends who take 5-HTP before and after MDMA trips, it's a precursor to serotonin and they swear it helps (SWIM never looked into it). You can pick it up at the grocery store. Erowid has a great summary of MDMA health issues: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_health.shtml And a study about heavy use effects in rats: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma...oxicity1.shtml They have a bunch of other articles, and Erowid is always good place to start. SWIY would be better off doing pure MDMA if he's worried; with pure you know what drug you're getting and how much. Pure is pretty yummy stuff and is getting to be more popular. MDMA can be amazing all by itself. E with a lot of stimulants can often overshadow the warm, squishy empathic fuzziness of MDMA, as well (I guess some people like that, though). Still, a tab of street E here or there usually isn't a very big risk and doesn't cause problems for most people. |

I can see where Capn Danger is coming from, and it's not terrible advice, but it's not the whole story, particularly for someone not totaly fammiliar with the scene who may have to interact with strangers to obtain substances. You still have to be competant enough, be equiped with a good set of scales or trust someone else sufficiently to measure the dose correctly. Remember we are talking about unregulated substances here, so the word "pure" in this context can be misleading. Sure, there is less space to hide other crap in it (which is the problem with pills), but there is no guarantee what-so-ever that the "pure MDMA" will not contain impurites or adulterants. remember, these things are illegal, that's why they are dangerous. BTW, like the Capn said, pure MDMA doesn't need anything added to be brilliant, the only things required is other human beings and sensible ammounts of water. |

Drugs-Forum archives FTW!!!
SWIM didn't even know they were so extensive. SWIM will use them to link to any information on substances from now on. Thanks, SWIJatelka! |
