Newbie Etiquette?

Hi, I'm here because swim is looking for help.

As a first post (now second), what would be expected to understand swims problems for him to get help?

Basics such as how long and how much, or a full blown story - highs and lows, hows and whys etc?

Also, is my email address visible to members or not?
