The pharmacological side of addiction

I would like to have a series of threads, dedicated to the pharmacological explanation of addiction in relation to specific drugs.
i.e. threads on:
Methamphetamine addiction pharmacologically explained.
Heroin addiction pharmacologically explained.
DXM addiction pharmacologically explained.
Ecstasy addiction pharmacologically explained.
Etc: [insert drug of choice here] addiction pharmacologically explained.

There is a need for threads like these and members struggling with addiction would get a lot of benefit from understanding these matters.
