Ultram (Tramadol) 50mg

Hello all!

SWIM just got a prescription for Ultram (50mg)... SWIM was a little upset that it was not his usual Hydrocodone or Oxycodone.... but I guess thats what SWIM gets for going to Urgent Care

anywho, is it a good idea for SWIM to get high on Ultram?

Although you'll find the perennial, politically correct crowd who will diss tramadol, SWIM came upon Ultram much like you (urgent care), didn't have much hopes for it, and found it even better than oxy. Ridiculed as we may be, those who know love tramadol as one of the best narcotics there is. Its dumfounding how its still non-scheduled.

Re: Ultram (Tramadol) 50mg

SWIM used it... the first problem is SWIM is very Opiate tolerant, so SWIM had to take quite a few. SWIM would not go so far as to say it is better then Oxycodone.... but SWIM will agree it is very pleasurable and SWIM enjoyed it more then he thought.
SWIM will never diss any Opiate/Opioid/Narcotic... SWIM loves them all like brothers

Re: Ultram (Tramadol) 50mg

Tramadol is quite risky to take if one is opiate-tolerant.

You should read this post of mine: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33372

Re: Ultram (Tramadol) 50mg

A little advice...if you are opioid tolerant, it can be helpful to take small doses of the tram like every 20-30 minutes. The trick is to build up the long term (M1-metabolite) opioid concentrations, while allowing some of the more unpleasant SNRI effects, which are shorter term than the opioid effects of M1, work their way through. Tramadol can induce quite a nasty panic attack if taken in too large a quantity too quickly. It is like a panic attack with mild serotonin syndrome. Also, chronic tramadol abuse can lead to similar nastiness as brain chemistry is changed (non opioid). During some of these attacks, Pulse of 150 and B.P. 150/115 is not uncommon, and can be quite scary. Propylactically with potassium (orange juice), Tums (calcium), and modest benzodiazepine. Remember, this stuff is highly addictive – one of the worst.

Re: Ultram (Tramadol) 50mg

If Tramadol were highly addictive, I can promise you, there is NO way that my doctor would prescribe it for me, and he does. Ive taken it for almost 2 years for chronic pain. There is no way he would give me a narcotic pain medication except for in extreme circumstances, like if I have surgery.

It may be psychologically addictive, but anything at all can be addictive in that manner, even just doing something and not taking something drug related. Ask any OCD person. LOL

Oh, I guess this is not recommended, since I have read a lot of negative about it, but I take Tramadol with Paxil. The same doctor prescribed both. Its used in this combination to treat fibromyalgia.

Re: Ultram (Tramadol) 50mg

SWIM, who has a strong history of intense, bizarre, and completely different effects from drugs than most other people, claims that he likes Tramadol about the same, if not more than Heroin (insufflation route) - they feel VERY similar, but Tramadol, for SWIM, is more of an outgoing opiate high.
SWIM has experience with both substances, and sticks by his claim 100%.

I think Tramadol just effects people very differently. Some people get nothing, some get amazing effects.

I think SWIM is just very very lucky.

Tramadol is physically addictive. It's advertised as non-addictive and non-narcotic to physicians, because it tends to produce less desirable effects in most people and can actually be somewhat stimulating and not sleep-inducing (narcotic). This is also why it is unscheduled yet. It provides effective analgesia and is very commonly prescribed because it lacks the stigma of scheduled opioids.

Re: Ultram (Tramadol) 50mg

I guess Im one of the lucky ones that doesnt get addicted to it then. Too bad for those that do, because it really IS a good pain reliever. I have had some days without the pills, like waiting over the weekend for the doctor to write the script, and I had a lot of pain, but that is usual for me. There were no mental thoughts about having to have some, like I have had with other substances, like cigarettes. ugh.

Amazing that there is something addicting out there that Im not addicted to!

PS...dont tell my doctor, because he would surely stop giving them to me, and they work better than anything else for my pain, except for serious stuff like morphine.

That's ridiculous. Swij had just come off heroin about a year ago (stopped for about two months) and liked tramadol because it was similar to the H high, but now that swij is back to the top of the tolerance ladder, tramadol won't do shite for him. Not shite.
