Detoxing is hard!!!
Hi all. I have been reading the forums for some time- never thought I'd post but here I am! I have been a recreational user for a while now (not hardcore- usually for weightloss purposes but I also drink a lot of alcohol.) Many of my friends don't know I party and I don't discuss it, so I have to vent here.
For the last week or so, I have been trying to simply function-- sans stimulants sans downers-- and it is surprisingly hard!!! I used to think I got shaky cuz I was coming down... or because I was too tweaked or something, but now I'm shaky for... no reason. I keep taking advil for this constant headache, and nothing tastes good to me. But I can tell when I'm hungry because I feel extra-terrible. Yuck! This is awful!!! I don't know what else to do except keep thinking to myself, "Well, if its this bad then its a good thing you're clearing out your system." BLEH. |

Re: Detoxing is hard!!!
what drugs swiy was using is what makes up what swiy is feeling right now. swim can probably give swiy a good idea on whats going on physically and emotionally.

Re: Detoxing is hard!!!
Shakiness is a withdrawal symptom of long term alcohol use.

Re: Detoxing is hard!!!
Educate oneself on the substance(s) in question. Find what other did or do to maintain safe using patterns in order to detox safely. Remember that heroic detox with cold turkey methods can lead to awful things such as seizures. Just because your fix is not in your blood, doesn't mean your body won't use threatening ways tell you it needs it.
Btw check out erowid for experience reports (in particular the addiction and habituation section) for some humbling information. |

Re: Detoxing is hard!!!
^^^ Whew! I thought I was fairly careful about what I put into my body, but apparently I need to do more reading!!! Especially because I don't know what the things you're talking about even mean... what is "heroic detox" and "erowid?" Nevermind, I'll do a search. Thank you for the advice.
