Tolerance?

Does anyone else find that tolerance develops to methylphenidate to any significant extent?

I've taken 3x54 mg (162 mg) of Concerta, and the effects are barely noticeable. I also checked the blood pressure, and it's just 100/67 mmHg.

Re: Tolerance?

SWIM's tolerance grew very quickly. He's done 8 54mg concertas and about 15 20mg ritalins in a night when he does Methylphenidate. SWIM finds taking concerta helps to make the ritalin last a lot longer

Re: Tolerance?

Extremely rapid tolerance to certain effects, one being euphoria; this being related to dopamine in the nucleus accumbens. From what I've seen the cardiovascular/adrenergic effects develop tolerance as well. OTOH I know many people who have been treating their ADD/ADHD with varying forms of methylphenidate at the same dose for a year or more, and many have even lowered their dose -- evidence of sensitization, which occurs in response to many of the therapeutic effects.

Re: Tolerance?

When swim does concerta or adderall etc... swim likes to have a alot of it at one time so if swim doesnt sleep swim will pop more and have more energy. Swim does this for 3 or 4 days straight jus poppin pills.then takes about 7 days off ,or longer if swim cant get more, after the week and he does more his tolerance is gone.

Re: Tolerance?

SWIM went on a short binge of some very powerful upgrade on ritalin for about a full day. The next night, SWIM snorted three of these pills and felt a less powerful and notably different high. The night after that, SWIM snorted the contents of the last of his pills and didn't feel any high at all, only a speedy awake feeling like from drinking an energy drink. So in SWIM's experience, tolerance builds very rapidly.

Last edited by kaczynski; 25-03-2008 at 20:05.. Reason: SWIM meant ritalin, although he's had the same experience with adderall, which is why he got mixed up
