Hi,

This is my first visit so if I do something wrong please pont it out.

I have OsteoA andwas on a regiimine of long acting OC and Percs. Percs, however I've been taking Percsfor 20yrs before the OsA got bad(never more than 12 5/325 a day) and was getting concerned about the negative long term effects of the TY portion. I read that MilkThistle help protect the liver and have been taking a couple a day for the last few months.

Unfortunately, (even though I didn't have any negative symtoms that I recognized) I was still afraid to take the Percs even when I needed them. I asked my MD. if I could switch to 20mg fast acting OC and he was a little hesitant until I put 200 Percs that I hadn't taken on his desk.

The fast acting OC is working fine for pain but the drowsiness has increased. Are any of you taking similar meds using something different, or do you still prefer the Percs?

Thanks,

Y

I have serious back issues, and my Dr. switched me from tylenol based pain meds to ultrams. I took as many as needed pretty much without worry about my liver getting messed up.</font>

Hi,

It seems that were doing about the same thing.

Tramadol is the active ingredient in Ultram and since oxycodone is now generic (cheaper) it is the active ingredient in Percocet but without the acetominophine.

If your Dr. had prescribed Ultracet, you would have the same worries since acetominophine is added to the Tramadol.

Thanks
