Seroquel's (Quetiapine) effect on other drugs
How would being prescribed Seroquel influence the effects of certain other drugs?
Particularly, the standard psychadelics, the atypical psychadelic Salviorin A, cannabis and dissociatives. I'm not asking about how whatever underlying disorder Seroquel was treating would impact things, but rather the effects of the drug itself. |

Negate the effects of psychedelics. And makes cannabis different, thats for sure.

Re: Seroquel's effect on other drugs
Seroquel also has the nasty effect of still being in effect after one thinks it's worn off. This can be exemplified by a friend who was driving a car the next day. We were nearly killed when he phased out. Under orders of the State Troopers, he threw them out.
I'd advise likewise. |

Re: Seroquel's effect on other drugs
First off, injecting cocaine is quite dangerous. Regards seroquel (quietapine) being mixed with it - I don't think think any studies have been done - to my knowledge. Though it has been postulated that seroquel has effects like tropine alkaloids. Of which cocaine is one. This could mean it would potentiate the effects in a dangerous way.
I'd hold off until further information is available. For your health and safety. |

Re: Seroquel's effect on other drugs
Seroquel dampens the effects of seratonergic and dopaminergic drugs in general. It probably wouldn't have too strong an influence on most dissociatives since they primarily act through NMDA and related receptors. And salvia's too weird and unique to be effected by much of anything.
Cocaine has a strong dopamine high component. It could be effected by dopamine antagonism from the seroquel. Last edited by JDreaming; 24-10-2007 at 20:55.. |

Re: Seroquel's (Quetiapine) effect on other drugs
Swim feels that seroquel dampen dissociatives, but only has experience with dxm and seroqul. Swim is prescribed 300mgs of seroquel, and she does like dex. She tried 200mgs of dex and it seemed to be a fraction of what the experience is like off of seroquel. It has absolutely no psychedelic reaction what so ever, just a weird uncomfortable feeling of being too sober for the body load. Though ambien is a weird one. She still sees carpets swirl and walls breathe on ambien, even on seroquel.

Re: Seroquel's (Quetiapine) effect on other drugs
SWIM has recently been prescribed Seroquel . SWIM noticed definite changes in the effects of certain substances. Drinking small amounts of alcohol gave SWIM a mean headache. When SWIM smoked out, he felt like it amplified the intensity a little too much. It’s possible that SWIM just scored some potent buds though. When SWIM did a few rails of coke, he only felt like he had just had two espressos. This one made a little sense to SWIM after a little research. SWIM read that Seroquel is a serotonin and dopamine receptor antagonist. SWIM also read that coke is a seotonin and dopamine reuptake inhibitor, among other things. Even though the dopamine and serotonin were readily available in SWIM’s synaptic clefts from the coke, perhaps the Seroquel may have prevented them from binding to their post synaptic receptors. Maybe this was the mechanism for SWIM’s perception of dampened effects. This is just SWIM’s guess as he is no expert. Then again SWIM may have just scored some low-quality blow. Also, underlying tolerance issues may have come into play. Does anybody know about this? Is SWIM’s hypothesis on the right track? Has anyone had similar experiences?

Swims personally experience says seroquel is ok with most anything in moderation swims favorite way to take seroquel is to snort it with a valium and a muscle relaxer

Re: Seroquel's (Quetiapine) effect on other drugs
Swim's ex-girlfriend describes Seroquel as smoking a joint with low potency. Swim use them to take edge of Amphetamines when too generous with the dosing. Also usefull coming down after tweaking for days and weeks.
