Anyone know what these dog-sleeping pills would do to a person?

It's related to drugs like thorazine and haldol. Good bet is it would down you out and make your mind resemble a TV set that got the cord pulled out of the wall: Little white spot fading out to nothingness - followed by waking up and feeling like there is a lead weight tied around your brain that's dragging you to the floor. That's what this class of drugs does to mental patients. In that this particular molecule is only seen in veterinary medicine, it might well have shown a higher propensity for causing tardive dyskinesia (TD). TD is a well-known side effect of the phenothiazine class of major tranquilizers. It results in the drug having eaten a permanent hole in the brain stem of people. This results in shuffling of the feet while walking, drooling, and flailing of the arms. As well as other symptoms resembling Parkinson's disease.

If it does this more often to humans than other phenothiazines, and is thus relinquished to downing out Fido, does it sound like something you would want to try?

Other than that, it might give you distemper and make you dig holes in your lawn.

Acepromazine has a 3 day half life in humans vs about 12 hours in a dog.
This is the main reason that it is not used in humans, though decreasing
the risk of the thorazine shuffle is also good.

Swim has taken this before 6 tabs I think. The week swim took them was a bit of a haze and included, alcohol, Kemadrin (anti Parkinson drug), ephedra, Zimovane, there was nothing particulary outstanding about that week so awim would say is not worth the bother.

Nagognog summarized it perfectly. Upon standing up, all the lights went out in SWIM's head. No recreational value whatsoever. A stupid mistake made early in the stages of SWIM's research phase.

Swims friend who he has known for year has a 50ml vial of Acepromazine Maleate. He is always asking swim if it could be used recreationaly but swim dosnt know. All Swim does know is that its a type of sedative used on animals in clinic's before surgery.

Does anyone know anything about this stuff?

Is it possible to use it recreationaly?

I've moved your query here as, chemically speaking, this molecule would act as an anti-psychotic of the chlorpromazine class. These are nothing to mess with. A quick Google search turned up tons of info. Such as:

Acepromazine is bad. It used un animals because it could not be approved for people. It lasts 3 days and is the most likely to trigger tardative dyskinesia of all the phenothiazines. This is only for animals and only in certain circumstances... Not to mention that the human versions are thorazine, stellazine, compazine, and a host of other anti-psychotics which block dopamine receptors (yes, the ones normally targeted by happy drugs).

SWIM says YUK .. Don't even let them give it to your dog.

SWIM has seen Acepromazine Maleate at work, they are a tranquilizer used for dogs, similar to ketamine. from what i have been told it is a more potent drug than k. They are 25mg pills and are a small yellow pill similar in size to an oxycontin 80. they have a print on one side with a horizontal line an vertical line spliting it up into even quarters. They have a number in each quarter, 0 on the top left, then 2, then 1, then 2 going clockwise around. if anyone wouldn't mind sharing an experience that would be great, but any knowledge on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Its not recreational, its phenothiazine- an antipsychcotic agent. There are terrible side effects to this med, such as extrapyramidal effects (think Parkinsons Disease), such as perminent uncontrollable shaking and disturbed body movement. Also, it can mess with your heart rhythm and cause dangerously low blood pressure. Patients (humans) given meds in this family are subject to very serious testing during treatment. I suggest these meet the toilet, and never your mouth/digestive tract, in the interest of harm reduction. Again, these WILL NOT make you feel good, rather the contrary.

The half life in humans is about 3 days, so it takes forever to wear off. It was one of the first phenothiazines developed for people but was pulled from the human market due to the very high rates of tarditive dyskinesia (look it up, but basically as described above, and often permanent). Not recreational at all unless you are a psychotic, in which case it may quiet the little voices and murderous impulses. It is safer for dogs and does not cause tarditive dyskinesia in that species. Standard drugs used recreationally in people are far superior to anything that is not locked up in an animal hospital...

Snapper, I just wanted to say thats a great post in regards to harm reduction. Thanks for the back up! I hate to see someone mess up their lives with extrapyramidal symptoms / tardive dyskinea.

as said above, they really should meet the toilet. not taking them is not good enough. GET RID OF THEM. it would be a tragedy to say the least if someone got a hold of those and didn't have this information.

Swim found a bottle of these prescribed for a cat. However, there is another tablet that looks slightly different in the bottle. Same size and color, also scored in fourths on one side. There are no numbers on the scored side, but the other side has 25 over 221. Swim is wondering what the other pill is...

Just as a historical note, Acepromazine many, many moons ago, did have a product for humans on the market. It was mixed with meprobamate, a muscle relaxer/sedative. That was 60 years ago, though. In fact, meprobamate is hardly ever used, Swim thinks it's third-tier.

Also, cats respond differently than dogs. Cats often try to "fight" the sedation, whereas dogs tend to just plop down. Wouldn't have that kind of effect in humans though.

No go.
