I am planning on going in to a walk-in clinic this weekend, as I have been hitting it pretty hard the past 6 months, have not been to a doctor in a couple years and have been feeling under the weather/getting a recurring cold due to (i believe) my fragile physical state. If the doctor does notice something drug related, or begins to pry, would it probably be best to run through my narcotic history to assist him/her in helping me? If he/she does find out, is she likely to notify the authorities about my habits?
I live in Canada if this helps with your answer.

i would suggest getting to know the doctor at least a little tiny bit before you think about mentioning that. it really shouldn't be a problem though, im sure they would not go to the authorities, probably something about patient confidentiality. even if there wasn't anything like that, it would be too time consuming for them to really get involved. don't worry.

There is no need to worry about your doctor contacting the authorities. Patient confidentiality comes into play unless you pose a threat to yourself or someone else or you have a CDC reportable communicable disease (syphilis, measles, etc.)

However, I would not volunteer your drug history unless you feel it is pertinent to the present treatment.

i dont think i would mention anything drug related to the doc either just in case. maybe they would write something down and if u ever had bad pain they might not give u anything narcotic or give u real small amounts..i dont like takin chances either, people look at drug users so bad and they make it such a crime in the US.

I am open with my doc about everything I do. In my opinion, it's stupid not to be. Then again, I am in the US and we have HIPPA laws and shit. They cant share that information with anyone.

If you have a history of narcotic use or abuse, it's gonna be hard near impossible to get pain killers prescribed to you, muscle relaxers, etc. With my doctor,I would have to be in a hospital bed in pain before she'd give me morphine.

But if you're comfortable with your doc, talk. If not, deny whatever they suspect (if anything). They'll know you're lying, but just for the record you can deny all this.

Hi,

If your sick and you want to get better (be that detox as part of the process) go to the Emergancy of a good hospital. We have some excellent hosptals in Canada. Tell them everything.

If your looking for a prescription for a restriced substance be it tranquilizers or narcotics and you have recieved a prescription for the same type (not brand) of restricted substance from a different DR. in the last 30 days you have to tell the dr you seeing the details or your breaking the law and they will come and get you. It may take 2 years, but they will come and get you.

If you've been doing alot of stuff that has asperin or tylenol in it you could have liver/kidney problems. Tell them the truth or you might die.

goodluck

Y

Your doctor is there to help you.

If your habits are affecting your health, you need to tell your doctor.

They won't rat you out to the cops. Depending on your condition, they
will probably give you some pamphlets, make some suggestions of groups
to join etc.

SWIM has made numerous admissions to their family doc, who was
completely unphased. This isn't really surprising, since there is truly
an enormous amount of people who use drugs.

Just don't talk about your drugs.. and if he notices something, make
sure to know if he is helping you as he should. If you look worn I
think you should count on that he isn't a "friend" of yours. He might
label you as junkie in the journal, and when others in that hospital
read them, maybe again you don't get the help you deserve.

We live in such a nazi society.. that we can't rely on people.. I just
like to use the nazi word.. just think back what tens of millions
of germans screamed 60 years ago?? The society is as brainwashed
today as then.

I can tell you that my father was killed by these nazi doctors... I
don't think doctors are there to help, they are there to make money..
and do usual mess as ordinary people do. Well, he is scared to loose
his reputation.. but is he scared that you might be a reason he
looses some?? So.. be as clean as you can.. expect that doctor to be as
superfiscial as people really are.. even if it's a doctor.

Whatever.. you better go see a doctor.. if you dare to take drugs.. you
should dare to expose yourself aswell. Nothing is as important as
health.. nothing.. and don't fear him calling cops. I guess you are not
a kid.. so he wont call some other authority.

I don't even know about laws and regulations in my country, but Don't speak drugs. Find a new doctor if he wasn't good enough.

Be smart, but don't be ridiculous. If you have a problem that needs
medical attention, whatever the cause, your doctor needs to know
important details.

Doctors realize that people use drugs - they come in contact with most
people in our society. Maybe if its your fifth visit to the ER in the
last couple months they'll be less professional with you, but to say
that anyone using drugs should be afraid to talk to their doctor about
it is ludicrous!

Especially in Canada!
