Ritalin Novartris or Unbranded. Stronger Type

What is the difference between Novartris and Generic (unbranded Ritalin)

Is there a difference in strength or is it just a brand name?

They should be of equivelent strength. 10mg of methylphenidate is 10 of methylphenidate regardless of the brand.

i was checking a FAQ doctros questions forum and people where saying they got different effects from novartris then unbranded...

i guess its just a brand name, peace of mine..?

My doctor, who is a ADHD specialist also told me somehow Novartis brand Ritalin has a better effect than generic methylphenidate. I would go for the Ritalin then.

FWI, this comes up on various boards kind of regularly (not Novartis specifically). They guy over at CrazyMeds wrote a rant about it:

If you're curious, or curious in general give it a read. I'm sure there are many exceptions (I've had generics I'd swear where MORE effective) but it's something. I didn't even take compounding into account when I thought about activity previously let alone binders and other 'inactive' ingredients.

generics be more potent not because they contain more active ingredients. to the contrary they include less annoying inactive ingredients. SWIM says generics most likely have less obstructive ingredients, the brand named methylphenidate includes ingredients which are unhelpful and indeed an annoyance when insufflating the drug. indeed generics are superior for alternative routes of administration than prescribed for uptake of the drug. that is only SWIM´s opinion but be it a well experienced one.

I think it varies a lot. Is SWIM talking about these particular ones? SWIM has had the Novartris with (which I've mentioned, sorry) not the expected results. But he thinks it's probably him, not the drug. Too bad.
