At approx 5 pm swim removed the brown layer from (2) 18 mg time release concerta tablets and proceeded to crush up the insides. This powder was mixed with raspberry ginger ale then was swallowed. 35 - 45 min later swim finds himself on the couch watching tv unable to stay awake.. swim dozes off and awakes rougly 2 hours later feeling very refreshed and almost no traces of any high.. not like there was much to begin with but.. so does this have a reverse effect on anyone else? Swims purpose of this experiment was simply to help him stay awake for a long long night of studying... some good that did.

SWIM has fallen asleep a number of times on adderall and concerta alike. With adderall, if SWIM falls asleep, when he wakes up after approximately 2-3 hours of sleep, he feels completely refreshed and motivated to work. However, the "high" is definitely gone. Still, it is effective in the fact that you won't be tired when you wake up. With concerta, SWIM finds it absolute garbage to stay awake. SWIM has taken one after an all nighter to stay awake during a lecture and promptly passed out when it should have been kicking in. Concerta is just a lot less stimulating that Adderall. If SWIY wanted to get stimulated from Concerta he would definitely have to up the dosage. Concerta works great if SWIM isn't tired, but if he is, it is completely useless.

Before anyone mentions the common myth. Stimulents DO NOT make people with ADD sedated. They simply increase dopamine levels which improve the ability to focus. As for the drowsyness swiy noticed, don't throw away the brown layer as it contains MPH. Second no crushing is needed. As long as the semipermeable membrane is punctured the xr mechanism will be defeated (the clear plastic stuff). Third 36mg is not much orally, try 50mg.

Good stuff to know, cheers. Swim has quite a few concertas left & will definetly try this again with as many variables removed/under control as possible for an accurate interpretation; as swim thinks he may have took a norflex or 2 a couple hours before but cannot remember if was indeed that day. If thats the case then it may have potentiated the sedation felt from the mph, or maybe vica versa.

ok well swim is fiending for a stim buzz to get 9 hrs of project-work done, so he will attempt again. This time 3 concerta 18mg pills were simply thrown into a coffee grinder and pulsed every 3-5 seconds as to not cause too much friction / heat. Then downed with some juice. It was either this or propylyhydrexine soaked cotton rods, which until muriatc acid is attained are not coming out of their airtight container (swim had virtually an instant vomit-hiccup just getting a whiff of the inhalers upon cracking them open). So lets see what happens to swim this time around......

Well well, what does swim have here...as time passed swim actually managed to have quite a decent experience this time and also for the first time saw benefits from using it. He will most likely repeat with 75 mg, as he's certain he "almost" got the euphoria. He did more reading on experiences and realized what he felt is what most users get from a threshold dose of. Altho the ritalin did aid in boosting his concentration (duh..thats why he had it prescribed) it didn't do much to bring about the insatiable appetite for knowledge and focus that swim gets on coke. So...obviously swim couldn't resist.

Roughly 3+ hours after methylphenidate dose but still feeling significant effects swim rectally administered 50mg of cocaine and drank 75 mg in a glass of juice.
To make a long story short, swim has found the perfect study combo. The mpd seems to help the coca last much longer. Or maybe not.. placebo can be a wonderous thing.

If SWIM is really tired when SWIM takes ritalin or methylphenidate, SWIM will take ritalin then fall asleep and wake up refreshed about 1 hour later. SWIM does not has trouble falling asleep on ritalin if really tired to begin with.

Sometimes, SWIM takes ritalin and will be able to take a short nap nap 4-5 hours after administration of 20mg ER tab.

It's a "light " sleep and does not feel like "normal" sleep, but SWIM's room mate says SWIM snores, so SWIM must be asleep. :o

Any swimmer's know why MPH can cause you to fall asleep?

As Ranke has posted, MPH (and stimulants alike) causes some form of dopamine tweaking in the brain (MPH's exact mechanism of action on dopamine being unknown) along with epinephrine/norepinephrine release. Don't quote SWIM on this, but he thinks the dopamine tweaking isn't really the cause of all the stimulation, it's mainly the nor/epinephrine release, and in some individuals the dopamine is much more effected than the epi system, or possibly the dopa system is just effected first, then later on the effects on the epi system kick in too. This could explain what SWIGforce posted about, sleeping for 2-3 hours but upon awakening feeling completely refreshed and ready to work. This has also happened to SWIM on a number of occasions with both MPH and dexedrine
