On the contrary...

It's damn near impossible to even get it up when I've taken my dose (prescription of 80mg a day).

And if you do manage to get it up, you're so tensed up it doesn't last very long :/

I've learned my lesson the embarassing way...

It might be different for someone who is not ADHD, I've never had the curiousity or desire to ask anyone I know :P

swim hears that most stimulants that work on the dopamine system (ritalin, adderall, cocaine, etc.) can cause erectile dysfunction. however they also report that as tolerance to the drug increases, this unwanted side effect goes away. some even report being able to go for even longer than they could previously.

Swim finds that swim gets the urge for sex after swim peaks on the ritalin. After the peak, swim likes to have sex and finds it really makes the orgasm intense. I might be in the minority here...but I really do enjoy it.

Swim is not sure if this question is for the male point of view, but swim finds that Adderall makes her horny. This is because it works on the dopamine system which is responsible for sex drive. Since swim only takes 5mg, only when needed for paperwork or work requiring a long time, she doesn't find that it affects her ability to reach orgasm. In fact, like sciencedj, it makes the orgasm more intense and enjoyable. Swim has friends for whom this is not true but they take higher doses than swim and more frequently. Stimulants of any kind seem to affect sex but it also seems to be dose dependent to some degree. Do any other swimmers here have female mates on Adderall whose sex drive and ability to have orgasms is affected by the medication?Ironically, antidepressants, most of which work on serotonin levels, cause sexual dysfunction, and stimulant meds and other kinds of stimulants, which work on dopamine levels, also cause sexual dysfunction, although for different reasons. Swim would be curious to find out if there is a way around this.

They can have that effect sometimes, along with greatly increasing desire (a frustrating combo). SWIM finds in his case the increased desire usually overpowers the erectile dysfunction, i.e. it can take awhile but is far more satisfying than normal.

About 90% of why SWIM likes dopamine drugs is the sexual aspect. Unfortunately, using them very often results in lack of interest when not using :(.

P.S. dopaminergic drugs often make him fiend/crave too, altho he only tried Ritalin once a long time ago & doesn't know if it has that effect.

For males anyway, Viagra & such should help a lot (if it's erectile & not a decrease in desire). SSRI's can kill desire and cause anorgasmia... sometimes Wellbutrin is added to the mix to help with this.
