SWIMS thyroid has been too big for years. It happened after he tried out a new batch of methamphetamine which had not been cleared of leftover iodine. My theory is that a large amount of iodine shocked SWIMS thyroid so hard that it in reverse lowered the production of T3/T4 hormones, which forced the thyroid to grow. SWIM has checked his hormone levels at the hospital and they came out normal, so the only problem now is that it is too big. Now if it would get even bigger it could start to cause problems with breathing, so SWIM would rather try to do something about it before it eventually does. I have heard that eating large amounts of iodine can actually help, but would not that only be true if the hormone levels were still too low? I also heard something about treating it with radioactive NaI solution, but I have also heard about possible severe side effects affecting the eyes and other things. Does anyone know about this or have any experience with it? SWIM is hoping for an option to surgery, as he does not find the sound of that very appealing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Btw: Whether this was caused by the crude methamphetamine or not, consider this a reminder of how important it is to not be ignorant and/or lazy in the lab. Just because the lab does not explode does not always mean that your rat is home free.
