SWIM is a user of morphine legitamately for acute abdominal pain that occurs about once per week. SWIM currently uses Oromorph (liquid form orally) or a sublingual preperation of buronorphine(sp) called temgesic. The morphine is much more effective for SWIM however orally takes 30-40 minutes to take any real effect. THis means SWIM must endure 30-40 minutes of pain before he can get any relief. What other methods of rapid administration are there for morphine except the IV and IM injections as SWIM doubts that the hospital would allow this in his own home.

Thanks for the time any information welcome.

I assume you could take it rectally-- 'plug' it-- but I have nver tried it. Surely sublingual should be fairly rapid?

I was thinking more of some sort of transdermal patch or other such. Or if anyone had any info of legitamate useage of needles at home from hospital. (uk)

The Sublingual temgesic is rapid but i was talking about the morphine. From what i understand morphine is not sublingual.
