View Full Version : Drug info - Valdecoxib (Bextra): Recreational at all?
Does anyone know anything about the chemical Valdecoxib? The brand name for this prescription pain killer is Bextra. I currently have 20mg Bextra pills, and was wondering if anyone knew if they had any rectreational value. I can't find any information on it other than the sites that sell it, and of course they will not talk about if you can or cannot get messed up from it. It is used as a pain killer, so Im hopeing it is better than codeine. Any response could help, or if anyone could find any info on it.

it's a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, so it's similar to asprin. The difference is that it's a COXII inhibitor instead ofa COX I inhibitor, so it's more effective. As it has the same type of action as VIOXX, I'd say that there is a VERY good chance that it will potentiate opiate drugs. It is not, itself, an opiate unfourtunatly, so it's recreational value is limited. Not all pain killers are fun.

Hmmm....interesting so other than using it with opiates, does it have any recreational value by itself? I've never used any painkillers recreationally that arent opiates, would this do anything seeing it is like apsirin but mroe effective?

I'd say it has no recreational value. I'm on celebrex (also a coxII inhibitor) for my knees and I can't even tell that I've taken it. It just makes my knees feel slightly better. Cox IIs are mostly used for anti-inflamitory purposes, and thus pain releaf, very different from opiods.
